West Yorkshire (WY) Metro operates public transit trains and buses for the Leeds area. Most buses leave from the main bus terminal on New York Street while trains serving the outlying areas of Leeds and the rest of the UK can be caught at the city railway station on New Station Street.
Beginning in 2007, the city of Leeds offers a free city bus service that travels in a circular, clockwise route around the city centre. Beginning at the Leeds Rail Station, customers can travel to: Park Lane, the bottom of Leeds University, Leeds Met University, the Merrion Centre, The Headrow, Leeds Bus & Coach Station, the West Yorkshire Playhouse, BBC Leeds and Leeds Market. The buses can be identified by the large Leeds Free City Bus logo and run Monday to Saturday from 6.30am to 7.30pm.
