The Gateshead Millennium Bridge is an acclaimed masterpiece of modern design. Opened to the public on 17 September 2001 the bridge ferries cyclists and walkers between Newcastle and Gateshead. Hydraulics allow the bridge to tilt on it's side, allowing boats and ships underneath.

The Tyne Bridge is just one of six bridges over the River Tyne, however it is unquestionably the most recognisable. Built between 1925 and 1928, it is reminiscent of the Sydney Harbour Bridge in Australia, which was built around the same time.
