    Laing Art Gallery

    		The Laing Art Gallery was founded in 1901 and opened to the public in 1904. Today there are many pieces by contemporary artists in the medium of painting, sculpture and glasswork. Outside the gallery is a public art installation, the Blue Carpet, which uses recycled materials to recreate the sensation of a carpet being laid over the paving slabs.
