The Queen's Guard is comprised primarily by full-uniformed Foot Guards wearing red tunics and bearskins. The Changing of the Guard takes place daily during the summer (and every other day after the summer) in the forecourt of Buckingham Palace at 11:30 am. The New Guard leaves Wellington Barracks and marches via the Birdcage Walk back to the Palace; the Old Guard hands over its duties and the sentries are changed. The entire ceremony lasts approximately 40 minutes in duration.
