Also known as the Clifton Suspension Bridge, this bridge has been standing across the Avon Gorge since 1864. The bridge started being constructed in 1831 but because of a series of setbacks, it was decades before it was completed. Isambard Kingdom Brunel, the engineer behind the project, died in 1859, never to see his bridge completed. Today, this feat of engineering is still admired and used daily for thousands of motorized commuter vehicles.
