    St. Mary's Abbey
Founded in the 11th century as a Benedictine abbey, St. Mary's Abbey (or St. Mary's Priory as it is also referred to) went on to become the wealthiest and most powerful religious house in northern England. Today, the abbey is in the form of ruins and while it is now overshadowed by the impressive Minster, a visit to the ruins provides a glimpse into the decadent and grand structure that once was.

    The Bar Walls of York

A sightseeing visit to the historic city of York is not complete without touring the Bar Walls, also known as the Roman Walls or the York City Walls.
