This small commercial gallery in the village of Grosmont, just west of Whitby, combines fine art, good coffee and cool jazz. In what originally was a Victorian joiner's workshop and later a 1950s petrol station, the refurbished spaced provides a chic environment in which customers can view a wide range of artwork while relaxing with a cappuccino and the sounds of Jazz.
Whitby Galleries, at home on Church Street in Whitby's town centre, features two adjacent art galleries of commercial art. One gallery features original paintings while the other carries limited edition prints.
At the Forge House Gallery, visitors are surrounded by beauty, both in the artwork that adorns the gallery's walls and the North York Moors countryside that surrounds the village of Lealholm. The commercial gallery, located just west of Whitby, specialises in original Edwardian and Victorian watercolours of English landscapes and offers a continually changing selection.
Displaying and offering for purchase the photographic prints of award-winning photographer Frank Meadow Sutcliffe, the Sutcliffe Gallery in Whitby covers two floors and has free admission.
