Bolton Abbey near Skipton is commonly used when speaking of the impressive priory ruins in the area but the name is actually that of the entire estate which includes the 12th century ruins as well as the extensive grounds of Strid Wood, the 15th century Barden Tower and the historical church that is still in use today. Bolton Abbey is open year round, entrance fees apply.
