The site of worship for over 1300 years, Ripon Cathedral is located in the city centre of Ripon and is one of the town's most impressive sites. Parts of the present cathedral date to as early as the 7th century and the twin towers of the distinctive west front were built in 13th century. Inside visitors can see original stone and wood works in the nave and choir as well as the 1300 year-old Ripon Jewel, a gold roundel inlaid with precious stones.
