    Bosworth Field
On August 22, 1485, during the War of the Roses, the reigning King Richard III (of the House of York) met Henry Tudor (of the House of Lancaster) in a decisive battle here at Bosworth Field. The conflict ended with the defeat of Richard III and the end to the War of the Roses. It also marked the begining of the Tudor dynasty. Richard III was the last Plantagenet king and the last English king to die in battle.
