A grand example of Romanesque architecture, Durham Cathedral leaves visitors awestruck in its grandeur. Three huge towers as well as the Cathedral's placement over the Wear River creates a picture that simply must be seen. The final resting place to a saint, a scholar, and a warrior king, the over 900 year old Cathedral also played a significant role in the early history of the Benedictine monastic community. Today the Durham Cathedral can be visited to view, to participate in a service, or to hear some fine organ music. A designated UNESCO World Heritage site. Address: The Chapter Office, The College, Durham England DH1 3EH
